Improving mood and community integration with a recital.

The mission statement at Community Entry Services, or CES, is to empower people with disabilities to maximize independence and lead satisfying productive lives in the community. The folks who attend this treatment and training center in Jackson WY received weekly group music therapy sessions, with the primary goals of improving mood and increasing communication and cohesion among the clients. With the overarching mission of integrating these adults with disabilities into the community in positive and productive ways, some of them participated in a recital held at the elder care facility in Jackson. This video shows one song from that recital, featuring two of the group’s weekly clients. When compared with the similar recital, held two years earlier and one of our previous examples, one can see how the two clients’ confidence and joy in the process grew, and how positive and integrative the music therapy process is
